Halo! I’m Sagita
Visual Designer specialized in user experience and interaction design. I craft brand visual, write sometimes, and read tarot cards. I think I’m generally stupid, but that’s why I keep learning.
What makes good design?
After 8+ years of experience designing for clients, I tried to deconstruct factors that ideally, makes a legit design. Here are 4 important aspects:
Functional
Good design solves problem. This problem varies from aesthetic, to the users, and the business. First most important to do is to identify the problem before begin crafting functional design solutions.
Asking the right question will save a lot of time in the process.
The Users
Design is a two-way communication. Whatever are intended at the concept board, should deliver the appropriate message to the audience. Users are the center purpose and the decision makers who decides whether a design is well received. A good design should know who the users are and able to meet users needs and expectations.
The Business Impact
Knowing the metrics to measure the impact. While fulfilling its aesthetic function, a design in a practical world should have certain parameters to measure its impact. How design decision influence users engagement, long-term brand acknowledgment, customer acquisition, increase sales, and eventually revenue growth?
Aesthetic: Consistency and Attention to Detail
Art expression is subjective. What is aesthetic to me, might not be aesthetic to you, or them. The key is the consistency of visual elements such as color, typography, imagery, and layout to craft brand recognition. As well as attention to details that includes alignment, spacing, hierarchy, and ensuring that the design is visually balanced and visually pleasing.
